Sunset over pylons

Found this whilst out riding a few weekends ago.

Melbourne Sandringham beach

melbourne beach rocks long exposure

On the last day of our stay in Melbourne I finally got out to take some pictures on the beach at sunrise. The wind was blowing a chilly breeze in from the sea, but it was well worth facing the cold! Taken on a tripod with a graduated filter and a neutral density filter to get the smoothed out ocean.

melbourne beach rocks with oil

The rocks seemed to be covered in what to me looked like oil. Maybe moss though? I almost had a close encounter with some of the wild animals in Australia yesterday… More about that soon!

Melboure Skyline by night

melbourne skline at night

It’s suprisingly difficult to find a hotel in Australia with an internet connection! I am sat in a video rental store/internet cafe instead. I spent the first week of my trip in Melbourne, and the I flew north to Carines. I am currently in a small town called Port Douglas. The picture above is the Melbourne skyline at night. The weather is a nice 27 degrees here though it was much colder down in Melbourne… There are some beautiful beaches in Melbourne even with the wind whipping at your heels, stunning at sun rise. I will put a couple of those pictures up in the next few days.

Barry Beach Landscape

Barry Beach

I went to Cardiff in Wales the weekend, stopped off at Barry beach and took some photos. This picture is also on Flickr. I find landscape photography very relaxing, although it can be very frustrating if the light is wrong. This is a HDR of three shots taken on a tripod.

New website design

House shot at dusk

ThisĀ  is one of the photographs I have taken as part of series for a client who has designed and built their own house. I am doing a study of both the exterior and interior of the house, and will also be focusing on the details of the house which make it unique. This shot was taken at dusk-time, taken on a tripod with a long exposure. It was a bitterly cold night when I was taking these photos, so cold that the water features your can just about see had completely frozen which made for some interesting shots. I will be putting up more from this project as I shoot it.

I have re-vamped the website for the new year, much cleaner and less distracting from the photographs on the site. It also means I can put up larger photographs.I will be updating the portfolio section shortly too.

Feel free to leave comments on the new design in the comments section below.
